Newsroom KADIN Chair Highlights Stronger Public–Private Collaboration to Boost Competitiveness

Jakarta, 11 October 2025 – Anindya Novyan Bakrie, Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), emphasized the importance of stronger and better-coordinated public–private collaboration to enhance Indonesia’s competitiveness amid rapid global economic transition.
He delivered this message during the launch of the Indonesia Jobs and Skills Accelerator program, an initiative by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in partnership with the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), held at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC).
The program is also a part of the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (ISF) 2025, where Anindya highlighted that Indonesia’s economy is undergoing a significant structural transformation driven by the green transition, digitalization, and shifts in global value chains. He stressed that this transformation cannot be carried out by a single sector alone. It requires collaboration between private sector innovation and investment, and robust government policy frameworks, skills systems, and institutional support.
“Indonesia’s future economic growth depends heavily on deeper and more targeted collaboration between the public and private sectors. Businesses have been the drivers of innovation and job creation. However, to scale up the impact, we must ensure policy alignment, targeted investment in human capital development, and a strong connection between industry needs and national development priorities,” the KADIN chair stated.
He further explained that the Indonesia Jobs and Skills Accelerator is a collaborative initiative designed to bring together businesses, policymakers, academia, and civil society to co-create solutions that bridge the skills gap and expand inclusive employment opportunities. The initiative aims to strengthen evidence-based policymaking and accelerate collective action across stakeholders by combining WEF’s data and analysis with the local leadership of KADIN and Bappenas.
“This program serves as a catalyst for skilling, reskilling, and upskilling Indonesia’s workforce to be more adaptive to the evolving needs of industry, while ensuring inclusivity for women, persons with disabilities, and informal workers,” he added.
Anindya also underscored that the accelerator’s focus on gender equality, disability inclusion, and social equity (GEDSI) aligns with KADIN’s vision of promoting equitable and inclusive economic growth. By integrating Indonesia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem with visionary government policies, the initiative aims to develop a resilient, skilled workforce ready to seize opportunities in the digital and low-carbon economy.
“The Indonesia Jobs and Skills Accelerator is a concrete example of how public–private partnerships can translate shared goals into real impact for national development and global competitiveness,” Anin concluded.
The Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Sintesa Group CEO Shinta W. Kamdani, and Maliki, Deputy for Community Empowerment, Population, and Employment at Bappenas were also present at the session.
According to the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2025, around 22% of global jobs are expected to change over the next five years, with 170 million new jobs created and 92 million jobs displaced. The five key drivers of this transformation include technological acceleration, green transition, demographic shifts, geoeconomic fragmentation, and global economic uncertainty. (*)
